Mobile BIM laser measuring system - the Flexijet 4ARCHITECTS

Building Information Modeling the Interface to ARCHICAD

Flexijet 4ARCHITECTS is a new, revolutionary BIM measuring system (BIM - Building Information Modeling) whose diversity enables first-time users, all-rounders and specialists to create an ideal measurement.

„Measure-drawing“ with Flexijet 4ARCHITECTS

Measuring, drawing and modeling altogether in one working step. With the ARCHICAD AddOn and the flexible and laser supported 3D measuring system Flexijet recording of an object-oriented building measurement is possible - a Virtual BuildingTM model.

The system consists of a tripod, a tilt and swivel unit and the laser distance meter Leica Disto. It is set up, switched on and oriented in the room.
Built-in tilt sensors calibrate Flexijet automatically. The nodes are aimed at by rotating and tilting the laser by hand or motor-driven with a radio remote control.

Easiest activation of the measurement

The measurement is activated directly on the device, by pressing a key on the notebook or via remote control. The digital pointfinder of the laser distance meter which has 4x zoom and a high resolution 2.4“ colour display enables a precise aiming at distant objects, even in rather difficult lighting conditions.

Data transfer via Bluetooth

The measured data is wirelessly transferred directly to ARCHICAD via Bluetooth which enables the measurer to move freely. All necessary tools in the Flexijet programme can be controlled with intelligent commands for the measurement.

From node to building model

During the measurement ARCHICAD creates a 3-dimensional BIM simultaneously, the basis for all floor plans, elevations and sections of the building. Forgotten nodes belong to the past due to Flexijet 4ARCHITECTS complete graphic on-site control of the measurement in progress.

Working with Flexijet 4ARCHITECTS on refurbishments and preservations of listed buildings enhances the reliability of an efficient planning process and the economical viability.

The follow-up time in the office is shortened to adding dimensions and setting the layout of the plans.

With the help of various 2- and 3-dimensional data interfaces like IFC, U3D, 3D PDF or DWG and DXF the data can be proceeded in common CAD programmes.

This technology provides a new quality for building measurements. A quality neither achievable by using manual measurement, laser scanner and point clouds nor tachymetric measurements with 3D lines.

During their measurement outside facilities can be created in 3D with the help of open spaces as solids as well as areas and volumes can be calculated. This way e.g. the excavated material on a construction site can be calculated with Flexijet 4ARCHITECTS.

  • Walls and rooms

Two measurements per wall are enough to combine the respective wall elements automatically to a room.

Even angular, round or free-form shaped rooms can be cap- tured quickly in 3D.

  • Roof trusses and roofs

Struts, purlins and rafters are recorded and placed with angle and height from the position of the device - without ladder or scaffolding.

The setting of nodes is possible on any visible point. A levelling of the floor is not necessary.

  • Windows and doors

Only two measurements along the diagonal are sufficient to set the height, width, parapet height and position of windows and doors.

A wide range of preconfigured choices of windows and doors is available. Distinctive window and door objects can be „measure-drawn“, modeled and used as 3-dimensional objects.

  • Distinctive and free-form objects

Groin vaults and columns are measured in length, width, height and position with Flexijet4architects and placed in the model via laser.

Inventory like tables, wardrobes or lamps can be just as easily and flexibly recorded.
The transfer of objects with all their attributes is possible, for example to FM systems.

  • Staircases

Only a few steps enable a simplified „measure-drawing“ of almost any shape of staircases.

Measuring the string, entry step, exit step and the height between floors, as well as the number of steps is sufficient for ARCHICAD to generate a 3-dimensional staircase. It goes without saying that it is possible to measure single steps too.

  • Terrain models

Terrain models for presentation drawings are an easy task for Flexijet 4ARCHITECTS.

The contours of the site are modeled by measuring any amount of nodes. All open spaces, inclined floors and sloping ceilings are measured like this. Therefore, it is possible to calculate the volumes of the materials to be excavated and the fill. Plants and trees can be placed on the terrain model with just one measurement.
